I had this weird idea about an FLCL thing that you may find interesting. Basically its about 15- 20 years later. Naota is a single father with a son, who due to the tragic death of his mother, is a giant sad sack who is even more cynical than Naota was. Naota hasn't thought about Haruko or any of the events since they had happened, well he doesn't really dwell on them I'm sure he thinks about it ay least a little bit. One day Mamimi calls randomly- the first time in about ten or so years- telling him that she took a picture of an UFO, one that is unbelievably small. Of course Naota doesn't care and just monlogues about how weird Mamimi is. One day Naota's son comes home, bloody and slightly disoriented. His attempts at interogation lead to his son, cursing at him and running up stairs. Naota then thinks about his wife, Niamori (is that how you spell, the daughter of the mayor's name?). Naota's son begins wearing hats and bandaids, something that only faintly raises his suspicions. Sense the POV is the son's, it is revieled that its Haruko- suprise, suprise- that has attached herself, unknowingly, to Naota's son. After Naota calls his son- with Haruko eavesdropping- she hears the son call his father Takun. Simply because he refuses to think of his dad as a father. Later that night, Haruko appears in Naota's living room and tries to talk like it hasn't been twenty years. She looks exactly the same, and talks in the same insane way she always does. Naota is very unhappy about her being back and ask her why she is back. Atomsk is back on Earth. Naota of course attempts to attack her but she is just as strong as ever and loses unconscious. Unfortunately, she convinces his son to run away with him. Naota comes to, finds his son missing, and immediately calls for canti. Canti fuses with Naota and they fly after Haruko. Haruko and the fused Canti/Naota person is no match. Naota's son is impressed with his father but being bitter and immature he continues with Haruko. Naota goes home and is furiously breaks objects untill he collapses from grief. He stumbles upon Haruko's old bass guitar and realizes that he must defeat her. He finds her and they fight. He wins beating Haruko into a bloody, yet still extremely spunky mess. Naota's son calls him dad, they embrace and walk away. Haruko gets well- this is some months later- and realizes that Atomsk had escaped again- haven't thought about how yet- she once again offers Naota the chance to ride with her into space. He looks at her and says "I'd really..." and that's the end. Its not super developed yet but I thought it was a pretty good concept.
I'm the Greatest, 'nuff said.
Oh and Eureka Seven is great, but inferior to FLCL. Damn you, FLCLimax, you are the crack of anime.
