Frenchy and Tommy The countries who love to hate

Postby Haz » Thu Nov 11, 2010 5:26 pm

England and France have always been in contest with each other (except when it worked out better to team on everyone else) In our current climate Britain and France are the third and fouth biggest military spenders in the world. But it seems the recession has hit their ambitions to remain in the global power game. So David cameron and SARKOZY (whom one should become cozy with) have recently signed a 50 year defence and security co-operation treaty.

Now I know what you're thinking "DERP WHY IS THIS INTERESTING OR DIFFERENT HAZ"

Well it looking at mr fineprint we see that Britain and france will now be JOINTLY devolping nuclear sub-marine and Nuclear technology!

Lawdy lawd not only this TIMESHARE AIRCRAFT CARRIERS.

Man, recession hits hard it seems

Military might is never a waste of money, no matter what idiots like Obama spout. Especially when one becomes a super power.

The threat of one of our super carriers alone has discouraged many nations from instigating conflicts. North Korea is a good example.

They cost a ridiculous amount of money and are pretty weak vs. asymmetrical/guerilla threats. Which doesn't mean much, except for, well, pretty much every recent war is asymmetrical.

Your right to a point, and I won't dispute that supercarriers and their ultraexpensive ilk are vaguely affective as a means of deterrence, but deterrence is far from a flawless theory. But hey, let's keep dropping huge sums of money away on outdated cold war tactics instead of trying to evolve and become more effecient, am I right?

Nowadays guerrilla warfare can't compete at all with our arsenal.

guerrilla warfare isn't meant to fight against major super powers. i wouldn't really count things like terrorists as guerrilla, terrorism is in a class all to its own.

and really, i am honestly surprised north korea hasn't been blown out of the water yet. pretty much everyone is fed up with its leaders shit. i mean, isn't he completely breaking treaties by attacking that island? does north korea even have any allies? im pretty sure even china is getting fed up.

China's an ally but they don't want to join a war.

one would think that the US does more for china than N. Korea ever could. china might stay out of it, but i really doubt they would help N. Korea.
