Is there any anime series near or like FLCL?

A friend of mine said that FLCL reminded him of Tenchi Muyo, but i don't really see a strong connection between the two.

I think I have found something that is as close as we can ever get to FLCL. It's this weird ass anime also animated by Studio I.G. called 'Dead leaves'. It's weird, and done in a totally awesome art style (very similar to FLCL, especially in Brittle bullet)
The heros are Pandy and Retro. Pandy is a strong woman with a weird mark over her right eye (that makes he look like a panda) and I mean strong! She kicks ass. Retro is a guy with a TV for a head (YAY TV boys! and he's the main character, not pushed back like poor Canti) he's insane, and also very bad ass.
Also, there's no real reason for pedophiles to watch, just general perverts (there's no kids, sorry Pewee).
Though it isn't for anyone who was grossed out by when Mamimi tried to kiss Canti. It get's weirder than kissing.

the only bad thing about "Dead leaves" is that it's only 42 minutes. Though every minute is packed with awesomeness. If you want something truely unique, and anything from normal., than I'd suggest this movie.

Yes, I have to agree with him/her. Soul eater is sorta like FLCL... It's animated just as well, maybe even better. It has a neat style but the style isnt like FLCL at all. You should check it out anyway though.

I found an anime very simular to FLCL. It's called Paranoia Agent. It's not wild and funny, but it's strange and metaphorical and really cool.

I'm surprised no one's mentioned The Melencholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Both coming-of-age tales with a sugary sci-fi coating.

While Haruhi Suzumiya has less symbolism, it is still a very enjoyable series, with only 14 episodes as of yet, so it's easy to catch up on.

GURREN LAGANN!!!!! From the same people behind FLCL!! It the ONLY anime I like more than FLCL(FLCL is a close second). To sum Gurren Lagann up in one word "EPIC!!!!!!" The show is SOOOOO epic!!!! It's great!

I have been on a hunt, and have watched a lot of the anime suggested here.

I am a pretty poor judge of anime, and I do not understand Japanese (entry level japanese next semester, yes!) but the closest thing I have watched so far has been Magical SHopping Arcade Abenobashi. animation is great, the english dubs are decent and its wacky, but still has really good content unlike other anime. it has the same feel, watch it. the characters are so solid. I have only watched the first episode and I already like it a ton.

Neon Genesis is so dangerous. it will drag you in to its awesome story and spit you out without an ending. only saddness can come from Neon Genesis. also, Genesis has this crazy anti-dualistic message which is really hard to put into the context of a cartoon. Dead leaves is cool, but animation does not flow as well as flcl.

cowboy bebop is not like flcl but its GREAT!!!!! oohhh, so good, watch that one, soundtrack is not Pillows, but, its still great. jazz and whatnot. animation is rad.

gurren lagann for next week.

Really? no one has seen "Detroit metal city"? it has no robots, but it has those guitar-slams to the faces, and It is a weird parody and comedy anime.

It goes like this: (no sexy stuff, but a lot of big words and some obscene content regarding the words , be aware mentally young ones )

A young guy that is in love with an old classmate and likes french pop music (><)(no offense), but he actually is the lead guitar and vocal of a famous satanic band of Japan ( figure how weird can be the anime only knowing that fact )
So only the band and managers etc, know who he is (when in stage, wears a costume so his family and friends don't have a clue, and that's where the weird fun starts)

Oh, and he has the nice warm soft side, but when someone pisses him off, he goes berserk ^^.

Aside from that, 12 minutes episodes, with excellent art design, check it out at youtube or so, you wont regret it.

I agree I was hoping someone would mention Gurren Lagann. This is one anime that I feel is on the same level as FLCL.
