True, I wouldn't buy any swearing from Rei, that would have been terribly out of place. Asuka always cursed in German anyway so that wasn't an issue. It worked for Misato because of her outgoing vulnerability and for Shinji due to his continued self deprecation.

yeah im surprised they didnt have asuka swear more.
but i loved it when she said

when asuka was fighting that army
it was the best visual representation of
the agility an eva can do.
besides eva-2 was specifically built for combat
while evas 0 & 1
were just prototypes and tests
and the eva series were the mass production models
but were not specifically built for combat
(from what i can remember so correct me if im wrong ok)
and eva-3...leave it to america to screw it up
and then there is the mysterious unit-4
which was supposably destroted in the nerv branch in nevada.
while they were installing the s2 engine
it caused a "sea of durac"
and dissapeared along with the engine.

That's an excelent question. Now apparently such a state of mater is theoreticly possible, however I'm not much of a scientist so read about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dirac_sea if your into that sort of thing, the idea is still very cool.
I think metaphorically it is a symbol for deep self analysis, Shinji diving into the depths of his subconscious. Eva approches these sorts of situations in a toataly unqiue and visual way, but the motif can also be found in stories like Joana and the Whale. The hero has to go down into the depths of the unknown which is always right there inside himself, but represented as a whale or an ocean something mysterious dark and powerful. The hero can either over come the darkness and find something important about himself, or be torn to pieces by it, and then you've got the kind of psychosis that occurs later on. The depths to which you can go are as deep as your consiousness will allow, a seemingly endless sea of unexplored reality, that is a Dirac Sea.

in the form of himself as a child.
and he simply ended up in that situation
when he had confidence in himself (which is rare in the series)
he actually considers himself a man and decides to attack the angel on his own. asuka was obviously concerned for his well being.but as asuka is always,she simply thought he was stupid and showed no concern for shinji.
and she eventually ended up taking her frustrations on poor rei-chan.
(sorry but its obvious that im a rei supporter)
but how do you think of my theories?

maybe i should re-visit the whole thing again?

IT is as said, he is struggling internally with himself. That also why it has alot to do with his antisocial complex. His mind is overly preoccupied with discovering himself, and internal confusion. SO much that he just wants to shut down.
Ive been feeling alot like shinji this summer, Im beginning to become more antisocial around my friend and things.
Something makes me not want to be around them. A inner desire has uncovered in me to leave them all away. It has alot to do with the way I feel, the way they look at me, and how ignorant I see they are now.
They look at me, as If a trandescendent being. I have only one true friend now I realize...

understand it.
trying to explain it is hard to do without really good visuals
try youtube and see if you understand it^.^
