Where did Naota's brain go?

Discuss the metaphorical and hidden meanings behind the series.

well, if you guys think about how Canti looks when he transforms-These square brainy things come out. I think his brain really is gone-and it's inside Canti. So, when Naota fights inside Canti, that is the only time that he's aquainted with his brain-which explains how he can fight good. I believe those X-rays are real. But, in that case, i don't really know if you can see a brain in an X-ray. I suppose you could, because it is pretty thick. So ya, there's no brain.

Then, in the last episode, the terminal core eats Naota's brain. Later, the terminal core eats Naota. I think this is how he got his brain back. He aquired his brain, and Atmosk's power.

hmm...i've just come into something else! yes, it's a little tid-bit moral thingy! lookie:

the more time you spend away from your brain, the more you learn about yourself.

HA! eat that  i think 'away from your brain' could translate to 'away from the things around you'. But, in FLCL's case, it's a brain. 'away from the things around you' IS what it means, though. Just the brain for this case.

Naota's no-brain is definitely something to do with NO, but i think the emptiness comes into play when canti eats him. That lightbulb that drills into the back of his skull while in the dream sequnce is almost filling the hole, like the hole was intended as a "socket", making the connection between him and Atomsk. This black hole was left as a portal-like scar when canti was removed from his head in episode one. when canti becomes reunited with naota, the connection is made again.

well maybe his brain is at metal mecanica, becuase all the robots do come from there, so posably it could be there( and maybe Atomsk has it)

Perhaps Kanchi actually needs it to fuel when he goes Atomsk all over the place. It does pop out of his rear when he turns into a cannon. This is a pretty broad subject, though, it could be anywhere. Maybe Naota still has it, but it's become more of a portal than a brain, hence why it's not visible on the x-ray. Remember the image in episode 4, when Amarao was explaining how N.O. utilized the processes of the right and left brains? The brain didn't disappear, but instead formed a portal for N.O. channeling. This is probably why Kanchi only shows signs of having a brain after he swallows Naota up, and possibly the fact that Kanchi houses Atomsk somewhere deep inside of him.

Actually, I THINK Canti didn't swallow Naota yet when the X-Ray was shown, so maybe he immediately lost his brain when Canti first came out of his head in ep 1. I really don't remember much of it since I haven't seen the first ep in ages. I sort of, erm... lost it.

Also, Canti DOES fight without having Naota inside him, only using the power of Atomsk in episode 5. So I guess he only needs his brain and nothing more.

But holy squirrels, that's a pretty awesome theory.

Actually, considering that Canti uses Naota as a cannonball (clearly seen in ep.5; also in every ep. whenever he shoots, the cannonball returns to him before the fight ends), he probably can operate without Naota's brain. Although Naota's presence definitely affects him *somehow*, just not necessarily in straight material way.

I personally believe that his brain is indeed still there. The N.O. channel just sucked up the x-rays to his head, showing an evident blank area. Haruko was likely just messing with him to scare him like she usually does.
