One Manga and other scanlation sights being shut down

Talk about specific anime other than FLCL. What's Gainax up to lately?

One Manga and other scanlation sights being shut down

Postby Glow » Thu Aug 12, 2010 4:24 am

so what do you think about it all?

is $10 worth the price of a manga?
do you think they're really losing money from scan sights?
do you think its about time they shut it all down?

think about it

if you made something and is making money from it
then someone else steals your work and gives it away for free, giving you no profit what so ever

would you like that?

well, not to be difficult,

but I think that the scan sights did help promote the manga, and the merchandise. witch was the excuse they gave before, when asked why they did not try to stop it.

I think that maybe a compromise should be reached.

as in America we have to wait months or years for a new volume to come out, witch would be a way I often forgot about a whole series.
in japan they get chapters weekly, or monthly.
also in japan manga's go for about $2 USD
in Australia a manga is $20
so Im not too sure if the prices are exactly fair, in that aspect

fair or not thats what they charge them
wherever you live at

if the site decides a deal with the publisher
and charge or something

then the site wouldn't be in jeopardy

I dont buy manga anymore

im just sayin.
maybe its a good topic to discuss.
maybe come up with some smart solutions for fun. put our brains to work.

reading manga at the library would be the same thing as reading scans for free would it not?

reading library books aren't wrong, and I dont believe the author gets profit from it.

you don't find many mangas at libraries though, and i think they have to have permission from the publishing company to have a book on the shelves.

OH NO COMPANIES ARE TRYING TO MAKE MONEY AND DON'T LIKE IT WHEN PEOPLE STEAL THEIR SHIT

But seriously, I'd still do it. There is a niche market that isn't being served Bigger manga companies only want to stay with safe bets I.E Bleach Narufag

The way I learn about new serries is by those scanning sites.
The fact that publishers want to close them is sad because then the lesser known serries don't get much of a debut.

I would be glad to just order raw manga from Japan if not for the fact that I have no idea where to begin as far as learning to read Japanese. Or speak it for that matter.

yeah the biggest problem I have with it all is the wait

little chapters every month is better than a volume every 3 years. witch is always what it come down to. as the series progresses the manga volumes get spread further and further apart you get um every month, then every 3 months, every six months, every year, every other year. I hate having to wait 3 years to find out what happens at the end, its annoying as fuck.

and is is one of the main ways I find out about new series'
otherwise, I think I kinda wouldn't even bother

you understood what I said.

we communicated properly

sorry if I didn't get everything while I was spell checking.

and sorry, I was told to write the past tense of words ending in S with just a apostrophe after, instead of a- s's
I must have been mistaken

the *series was aimed at the other person, who spelled it with 2 'r's.
