will the Wii become obsolete?

Kinect seems it has the potential to be more interesting in my opinion. If glitches are fixed, I think it will be quite interesting.

It also seems it is aimed at a more hardcore audience. I will wait and see.

My brother had a thirty minute rant about this. He was talking about how she was like, b.a. or whatever and then they made her dependent on a man. It was not a pretty sight.

The Metroid thing is more the creators fault. He decided most of the bad things about that game.

I understand the emo thing, but she definitely wasn't
over-sexualized. Also, Nintendo's track record on the Wii game wise has been almost perfect besides a few shitty games (I.E Wii Music, DK Barrel Blast).

The whole family thing is only so it will sell more. A lot of the more hardcore games are overlooked. Also, you realize Microsoft and Sony's marketing campaigns for the last year or so (specifically Microsoft's, hell at least 4 quarters of the new dashboard stuff is focused on "family friendly" games) have been aimed at making their consoles seem family friendly? Besides that the Xbox is just a cheap computer. Besides almost no exclusives the PC gets all it's games in a much better format.

I can't fault Nintendo for aiming more family friendly marketing wise, because they continue to make mostly great games. I can fault them for making a weak console though.

My biggest fear though, is if Activision where to make a console...

you would have to buy the base console, but it just plays DVDs, you have to buy extra parts for games.

actually, that would be pretty funny.

You have to pay weekly, and for every time you turn it on, and then to play the games, every time you go online. Every gun (it will all be first person shooters of course) to be bought along with clips for it. You can only rent games.

half the games don't work unless you buy special equipment, and then they play just like a normal FPS game.

The special equipment doesn't even do anything. It just makes the game playable.

pretty much just a box that plugs into a random port on the console. of course, you can't actually buy the box, just rent it for the same price it would take to actually buy it.

new peripherals are constantly released, most of which are exactly like the old ones, but with more LEDs.

I don't think they should have released any motion consoles or add-on's yet. I know you need to start somewhere and improve, but games where you stand still and do things like arrow shooting or pet keeping should probably just never be made. Especially for kinect considering the only difference it has from the Wii and Play Station Motion is that it's full body instead of just your hands. However, it's still the same game style, nothing new.

Look how the rest of the year is.

You also haven't counted game sales, or add ons. Where the real money is.

Have you seen the sales for Wii Play, most Mario games, and Brawl? Hell on the add-on's side you have the balance board, all the controller accessories, the zapper. When you have have control of your own console AND the games on it you can make quite a bit of a money. Lets just hope Activision never puts out their own console.
