the symbolism of harukos converstions with the cat show what her superiors think about her actions. however at the same time it shows the reactions of most males to her actions at a moral view. at one point in the manga she puts it into a cage and takes i somwhere and its not seen again. meaning she no longer cares about what her superiors are telling her.

The cat is a communication tool no doubt.

Now i have an idea, just play along here, that the cat is alot like Naota's guardian angel. The cat is always around, knows his emotions pretty well, and he doesnt seam to notice it. In the last episode the cat moews right before the guitar makes its noise, maybe giving him that small bit of hope? or maybe not. idk.

well yes the cat does want to protect the innocent that haruko is screwing with but i dont think its any deeper than that.
