flcl? WHAT DOES IT MEAN?

okay im sure this has been dicussed somewhere and i missed it, but what does FLCL mean? the words, fooly cooly or furi kuri, what do they mean? i'v heard several meanings, fondeling breats, doing perverted actions, and my fav, breaking out and doing somthing crazy. and theres allways the "it doesenmean anything" theory. can ya help me out? this has been the base for many arguments for my freinds and i

A: First off, FLCL stands for “Fooly Cooly” - but in Japanese it’s called “Furi Kuri” because there is no L or C sounds. “Furi Kuri” has been translated in many different ways, the most common interpreted meaning is “fondling a woman’s breasts”. Throughout the series the term “Fooly Cooly” is used as an expression for having sex. The mysterious title of the series could also be interpreted as a metaphor for the confusing and unknown territory of sex from adolescence point of view. “Fooly Cooly” could also be referring to how Naota attempts to act cool and mature, only making things more awkward.

furi kuri seems to be used for having sex...
what you are talking about is KURI KURI
in the first episode...in the manga scene...
what Shigekuni does sounds a lot like furi kuri...
but he is...in actuality...saying kuri kuri
get it right people!!!!!

but they split up the two words a lot like cooly cooly
or kuri kuri and fooly fooly
so they all mean the same thing but are used in different context to meen different things

fooly cooly (furi kuri)--seems to mean sex

cooly cooly (kuri kuri)--means breast fondling

fooly fooly (furi furi)--not quite sure as to what that means...but Haruko used it when she was rubbing Naota's cat ears

actually there are a whole but load of meanings, thats part of the joke, its like a totally random word!

lol, im not sure, japanese might be a tone oreinted language, so that would be only natrual, I would have to see the characters...

it is a tone oriented language, one word can mean dozens of different things according to pronunciation and context, just like most other languages in the world... :C5:
