Canti is most definitely male. If you don't believe me just watch Adult Swim today and at 8/7/05 at 1:30 A.M. Eastern US Time you'll watch FLCL episode 5 in which Kitsurubami clearly refers Canti as a "he." Or if you have the FLCL DVDs you can just watch the 5th episode.
