have you read "angelic days"?
its based on that last episode when rei was the transfer student.
(rei is alot more human in this series)

My curiosity get's the best of me again, I've read the first volume and am reading 2-3 now.

Hey Scissor, I'd like to here your thoughts on something. I read angelic days 1-3 and I think I have an idea on them. Basicly I don't think they were done on a whim but rather hold an intresting place in the Eva cannon. If you don't mind, tell me what you think, also open to anyone else who may have read this. Made tiny for spoilers
My theroy on angelic days: commence spoiler.
I think the premise of angelic days is Shinji's infantile fantasy, it's basically the world he thinks he wants. All the charecters and events are to reflective of shinji's disadvantages in life. He wants to get closers to Rei, but finds her very distant, so in angelic days she's an aggressive extrovert. He finds Asuka to be domineering twords, him and in AD there on the level and Shinji is able to knock her back in their markedly more playful argument. She is also persued be Kensuke, which gives the Shinji the self gradification of being able to score a sort of victory over one of his peers, Kaji also takes a more friednly role which removes him as a threat in the sort of game going on here. Misato ironically becomes the teacher, which removes Shinji from the awkward position of suragate son/ subordinate, while still allowing her a sort of authority. Gendo is kind of a jerk to Yui which makes it easier for Shinji to hate him, though in reality Gendo clearly loves her very deeply. Shinji himself is also much more considerate, and even though he still suffers some self doubt, it is quickly erased by misato's encouragement (note the opposites again here). The conflict here allows him to still fufill his heroic (Asuka would say maryter) role, in his mind being able to over come the problems easly gives him more satisfaction than a world of no problems. His whole fantasy is grounded in reality, but ultimately becomes horribly distorted by his physche.

I love NGE so much. I certainly did learn a lot from the series and movies.

I also have a fanart of Rei. I made it last year. Quite a while back. It was drawn and colored entirely by mouse. Done in Photoshop. I would just like to share it with you. It's not great but I think it's at least decent.


And I guess I'll just continue the conversation here from the Eva Love Triangle thread, since it seems more appropriate.

Yes, the love aspect and relationships in NGE was important. In fact, it was crucial and greatly fueled the story. I just said that "romance" significant. NGE was not made for that.

And to sum up the Shinji/Rei relationship is like this to me: think of yourself and your mother. Now let's just say because of some scientific voodoo blah she gets cloned. The clone doesn't look that much like your mother, let's say she doesn't look anything like your mom. She's different in every aspect. They think, walk, and talk differently. She's still a clone though. She's still your mom. She still has the genetic make up and whatnot. You have HER genes. You'd have chicken-winged babies.

Just think about getting it on or something. eew.

I don't think you can really separate love and romance though, it certainly wasn't a typical romance by any stretch, but that's what made it so beautiful. I still disagree about Rei, but I think I'll stop before I end up starting a flame war.

If I had to offer an answer to that it's how gendo saw yui, as opposed to how shinji saw her. Gendo saw her more often as a scientist, as a working woman, while Shinji saw her as a mother, that sort of warm comfort of the purple sweater.
